seems to me there is a lot of money to be made. Give the moms like 70% of what they are suppossed to get guaranteed whether your getting the money or not. Then you harass sue and hunt down the dad. Sieze his cars, toys etc. Similar to how selling your annuities and lotto winings work, or how creditors work. Since child support is non-dischargeable and and has such stiff penalties for those that do not pay chances are eventually you will get your money back, at 30% return.

Hell now I have convinced myslef to do it.

Seriously though is there any laws that would prevent this, I realize that it may not be the most ethical thing in the world to take advantage of desperate moms, but whoever said companies where ethical…

I’ve been divorced for 11 years, ex has done nothing to help raise the kids financially so consequently, all my money has gone to raise them, I’m still putting my youngest through college (she’s in her second year) They’re both grown now and it’s time for me…problem is I only have $6,000.00 saved. *I’m asking this on behalf of someone else who needs advice. If it makes a difference, this is in Canada.

My bf’s mom and dad have been having marital troubles. The husband moved out once and left them already, and threatened to stop supplying money for groceries, quit making car payments and sell the home. He left voluntarily, by the way. He works, she doesn’t because she had an accident a few years ago leaving her having trouble walking and panic / anxiety attacks at the drop of a hat. About a month ago he moved back in because he didn’t enjoy not having cash to spend whenever he wanted since it was going toward his kids and rent. He couldn’t handle the single life, basically.

Now he’s moving out again the end of this month. He said to her “I’m leaving. Don’t bother getting the pool or anything set up and don’t bother gardening. You won’t be able to keep the house or the car so you either sell it or it all goes to hell. The kids can live with you, I’m done”.

Now, if I’m not mistaken – if he voluntarily leaves and they divorce or whatever, wouldn’t he have to pay alimony and child support on top of that ? So then wouldn’t she be able to keep the home ? It’s not a large home – 3br 2ba and it’s only a 1 story home. What options does she have ? Her oldest son is 18 so child support wouldn’t go toward him, but she has also has a 15yr old.
the home is in both of their names.

Has anyone taken the L&H exam? I am taking it in a few days d it seems very simple, but people have told me that it is harder then it looks. I have my Series 7, 63 and 65, but I need the L&H now because of annuity products (why health, I have no clue, but my boss wants me to have it). What are some key points that I should be studying, and what sections does the exam focus on? Is it as hard as the 7,63, 65 (66), I can’t imagine that it is, but….the 65 looked simple in the books, and was a tricky exam. FYI, this is Virginia L&H, but I think the exams are similar in all states. Thanks

child care assistance?

My fiance and I just moved back home to Minnesota. We are staying with my parents but moving out in 2 weeks to our own place. We both got jobs right when we moved up here. I have 2 kids and he is the father of one of them. I get child support for the other. We are on child care assistance and we currently pay $301 every 2 weeks for both kids to be in daycare. We are not on any other govt assistance. When we move we will be changing counties so they will transfer everything over but the new county will count our income again. I just got promoted literally 2 weeks ago and with the promotion we will not make the cutoff for child care assistance. To pay full price it will be about $1600 a month for the kids to be in daycare. Although I got promoted and make more money it is definately not an extra $1000 a month. I want to get off assistance but I am in heavy debt due to a divorce a couple years ago and have worked really hard to juggle the bills to keep my credit perfect. I have 3 car payments, a house payment for a house I’m not living in- that I’m trying to sell and several loans. But I have been making it work so far. My question is when we move out can I say that my fiance is staying with my parents so I won’t have to report his income as household income? I know it is not allowed but is there a way they could find out? The only other way to make this work is to stop paying my bills that I have worked so hard to pay this long and trash my credit. I just need some more time to pay them off. He could keep his address at work listed as my parents address and they could give us his important mail. Another thing is if I say he is not living with me the state will come after him for child support but our thought was who cares about that since all our money just goes to pay the bills anyway. And I would be set up for child support anyway if I decide to split up with him lol….. anyway I know it is taxpayers money yadda yadda but I just want to say I am a hard working person in a tough spot and it just doesn’t make any sense to me to be on child care assistance and then just be cut off and have such a huge jump in price. Heck my fiance might as well quit his job and stay home with the kids if we are paying that much. Oh and also I want to add that he was a truck driver making good money but was just diagnosed 2 months ago with diabetes and now he is on insulin and is not allowed to drive… so he is working at a grocery store for $12.50 an hour… supposedly he will be a manager in 3 months. Or so they say.
To Lisa: I would absolutely sell TWO of the cars but I am way upside down on them. I don’t think anyone would be dumb enough to buy them unfortunately. Hopefully someone will steal one and total it lol.

I REPEAT: I CANNOT SELL MY CARS BECAUSE I OWE TOO MUCH ON THEM.
Also, when I lived in Kentucky my son went to daycare for 95 a week. But in Minnesota the cheapest I can find is 180 a week for him and 195 for my daughter. It all depends what part of the country you live in. And to the person telling me I’m lucky to be able to pay my bills obviousely doesn’t understand my question. I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PAY MY BILLS paying 1600 a month or more in child care.

We have just been notified by a bank that our 17 year old college bound daughter is the beneficiary of a sizable annuity. It will cover almost all college costs. We don’t even know what to do next. We were going to apply for financial aide for college expenses. Now she will have money and we don’t even know if we want or have to tell her yet (though we are pretty sure that college would still be her primary choice). She wont start college until next July. We want whatever is best for her. Should we somehow invest this for her, or pay the college off and get a loan for her housing and other expenses while persuing her degree?

I also know what values to plug into the given equation.

However, I have a hard time being able to discern when I should use either one of the two FUTURE VALUE or PRESENT VALUE equations.
